Hypothesis
noun, の adjective
A temporary theory isn't one that's set in stone yet. In fact, it's not really a theory at all, it's more of a hypothesis. This word is generally used when referring to research or some sort of investigation where a hypothesis is put forward that needs to be tested and validated through evidence and experimentation.
かせつ
This is a jukugo word, which usually means on'yomi readings from the kanji. If you know the readings of your kanji you'll know how to read this as well.
まずは次のような仮説を立てました。
We started with the following hypothesis.
この仮説が正しいことを立証するには、コウイチの力が必要です。
We need Koichi's help to prove that this hypothesis is correct.
成功させたいなら「失敗できる」ようにしておかないと。失敗できなくなると仮説をテストするスピードが落ちますよ。
If you want it to succeed, you have to be able to "fail." If you can't fail, you won't be able to test your hypothesis fast enough.
